terracotta warriorsWhile the Xi’an was one of the most important trade routes being China and Central Asia, this province has been perpetuated over time thanks to the famous Terracotta Warriors.

In March 1974 during construction work and supply of irrigation water was discovered a wonderful place known as the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor where lay an army consisting of over 10,000 figures of terracotta warriors and horses in size that were buried when died on China’s first emperor Qin Sichuan.

In striking realism, each of the figures shows different traits and characteristics (whiskers, hair, young, old, ethnic groups, etc.). And were buried with the Emperor in the belief that the monarch would still have troops under his command. The mausoleum is located 33 kilometers from Xi’an and the three pits between 4 and 8 feet deep to hide these figures lined up in battle formation.

In 1980 he discovered two painted bronze chariots, each comprised of over 3,000 pieces and “guided” by four horses and a driver imperial. Already in 1987, the Terracotta Warriors were declared World Heritage by UNESCO.
